Town of no return 60s essay

How was MEDIA LANGUAGE used to show the social context of the 60s ? In the 60s, men were seen as more powerful than women - this is portrayed in 'The Town of No Return' through camera work. At the start of a scene, the first character we see is a man, and the camera is at a low angle. This gives the man power, as we are looking up at him. Comparing this to when we see the woman, we see a full body shot of her showing off all of her curves and natural beauty.

The term PSB (public service broadcast) is a term used for public benefit of a broadcast rather than commercial benefit. There are three ways that a commercial broadcast makes a profit: subscription, sponsorship and advertisement. In the UK, BBC is the main PSB channel. Because PSB is funded by the public, they are legally obliged by law to:  deliver impartial news. represent all diverse communities of people. support learning for people of all ages. to show the most creative, highest quality and distinctive output and services. to represent the UK's culture to the world. Summer 2018 Mock Dirt

2) Explain one way in which music videos use media language to differ from each other. I studied If I Were A Boy and Uptown Funk, both these videos use colour and editing in a different way. Uptown funk uses bright costumes such as pink jackets and changed the saturation to go to the up beat song.  In If I Were A Boy everything is in black and it isn't a up beat song, it has a message about gender issues. 4) Analyse the representation of musicians in extract 1. The main cover image is a low angle close up of Ray Davies. The low angle shot shows that musicians are powerful and god like. The fact that the shot is in black and white makes him look dark, rebellious and depressed which fits the genre and his facial expression support this. The colour pallet of black, white, red and yellow shows musicians dark rebellious and depressed (black & White) but also entertaining (Yellow). The dark colour can also represent musicians as masculine because these are stereotypical colo

Links Between The Lego Movie & The Matrix

Image
Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the intertextual relationship between The Matrix and The Lego Movie (10 marks) The pros of stealing the ideas and characters from another movie is that you do not have to be imaginative with coming up with your own ideas. The Lego movie copied the entire plot from the Matrix; including both of the settings being in a completely imaginative world. Both movies have an average guy who becomes a hero, a leader who is captured, and once both of them 'die' and come back to life they are able to do anything. With the Matrix being successful, this means the Lego Movie would be successful. The Lego Movie producers did not need to use their imagination to come up with ideas as they had this template already created.  The disadvantage of copying another movie is the threat of copyright. The company would lose a lot of money and would have to remove the movie from everywhere had they been copyright struck. It is lucky that the Lego Movi

Lego Poster Analysis

Image
The shot type is an eye level medium long shot. The star vehicles are Emmet, Batman, Wildstyle, Vitruvius, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Unikitty, Green Ninja, Superman, a 90's Lego Spaceman, President Business and MetalBeard. Emmet is an average looking Lego construction worker from the Lego City franchise, he looks so average and normal because of the choices of the producers. By looking so normal, the movie portrays the message to the audience that anyone can be special, even the most average people. Children who play with Lego City toys would be attracted to this character because of his appearance as a Lego construction worker. Parents would be attracted to this character because of the message he brings by looking the way he is, and would want their children to understand this message. As well as this, He is voiced by Chris Pratt, who is known for his role in The Office, this would bring attention to the movie too. Wildstyle wears a black hoodie and has black hair with dyed
