2) Explain one way in which music videos use media language to differ from each other.

I studied If I Were A Boy and Uptown Funk, both these videos use colour and editing in a different way. Uptown funk uses bright costumes such as pink jackets and changed the saturation to go to the up beat song.  In If I Were A Boy everything is in black and it isn't a up beat song, it has a message about gender issues.


4) Analyse the representation of musicians in extract 1.

The main cover image is a low angle close up of Ray Davies. The low angle shot shows that musicians are powerful and god like. The fact that the shot is in black and white makes him look dark, rebellious and depressed which fits the genre and his facial expression support this.

The colour pallet of black, white, red and yellow shows musicians dark rebellious and depressed (black & White) but also entertaining (Yellow). The dark colour can also represent musicians as masculine because these are stereotypical colours for men.

The language on the cover represents musicians as dark and depressed because of "dark knight" "saving his soul"
