The shot type is an eye level medium long shot. The star vehicles are Emmet, Batman, Wildstyle, Vitruvius, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Unikitty, Green Ninja, Superman, a 90's Lego Spaceman, President Business and MetalBeard. Emmet is an average looking Lego construction worker from the Lego City franchise, he looks so average and normal because of the choices of the producers. By looking so normal, the movie portrays the message to the audience that anyone can be special, even the most average people. Children who play with Lego City toys would be attracted to this character because of his appearance as a Lego construction worker. Parents would be attracted to this character because of the message he brings by looking the way he is, and would want their children to understand this message. As well as this, He is voiced by Chris Pratt, who is known for his role in The Office, this would bring attention to the movie too. Wildstyle wears a black hoodie and has black hair with dyed strands, she represents the stereotypical teenager in the area that she wears black clothing and looks quite mysterious, any Lego fan would be drawn to this mysterious aura that she brings as they'd be intrigued as to who she actually is. She also links to Stanley Hall's theory that “Adolescence is inherently a time of storm & stress when all young people go through some degree of emotional and behavioural upheaval, before establishing a more stable equilibrium at adulthood." as she goes through a phase of finding purpose in the movie. Any Detective Comics (DC) fans would be drawn to the obvious Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern (wearing their typical superhero costumes) as they're famous superheroes from the Detective Comics' movies and comic books. In the movie, Green Lantern is shown to be quite an idiot, this is a reference to the Ryan Reynolds disaster film: Green Lantern and an example of intertextuality. Vitruvius is an old man with long white hair and a long white beard wearing robes and holding a strange looking staff (which is actually a lollypop stick) He is voiced by Morgan Freeman which will instantly draw a lot of attention to the movie. He is the "wise old man" character and would be a perfect role for Morgan Freeman. The 90s Lego Spaceman is a nod to old Lego fans who played with characters like this when they were young, he wears a basic, blue spacesuit and would attract to older generation of Lego fans. The Green Ninja is a reference to the Lego Ninjago franchise which is commonly played by children and so would attract even more children. There are also a few characters which have the same effect of Wildstyle such as President Business (who is wearing a strange and large had as well as having gigantic legs), Unikitty (who is a small cat/unicorn which would appeal to stereotypical small girls) an MetalBeard (a larger pirate/robot which would appeal to stereotypical young boys who love violence and action.
The explosion behind Emmet shows the movie is quite action-based, as well as the facial expressions of most characters who look very tense or mad. The background is a typical city of which Emmet originates from. This is quite a simple landscape and not very exciting but the purpose of this is to not distract from the characters. It doesn't reveal much of the narrative only that the narrative includes a city in it as to not spoil the movie too much before it's released.
There's a large range of bright colours on the poster, showing it's a children's movie, the bright blue skies represent the happiness of the movie but the orange and yellow explosion represents the action in the movie. The bright orange of the explosion connote a theme of hope and energy as it's coming from behind the characters. This represents the children in the target audience because the happy themes and the lack of darkness shows the movie is a happy movie with no dark areas and so is suitable for children.
The layout is that there's a lot of action in the image in the middle and not much at the top or bottom. At the top of the image there's the movie title and the sell line above it, at the bottom is the release date and cast names as well as production companies' names. This follows conventions of typical films of the adventure genre as they typically have action at the centre of the image and title and credits at the top and bottom. The layout is simple and doesn't distract from itself, the title in itself doesn't distract from the action and vice-versa this attracts children in the audience who will not look for minor details in movie posters and so must be in whole a simple image with no distractions.
The film title is "The Lego Movie". It's positioned in the image hanging from a crane which is a creative choice and fits with the creative theme which is Lego. The title is also part of the image and not apart from it, It's made of Lego too and looks very aesthetically pleasing for adults as it fits very well with the main image. It's positioned high up to give the impression that it's important as you look at it from a low angle, The title colours are white and red which are basic colours but also very effective together as it stands out from the blue background behind it ad draws eyes to it. The title hints at the narrative having an element of construction in it because of the crane carrying the title. The title is very bold and adds emphasis to "Lego Movie" as they're very large words in terms of size compared to the size of "The". The title is in full capitals to represent the target audience of the children who are attracted to the bold and large letters, it also shows the importance of the movie by being in capitals.
The slogan is "The Story Of A Nobody Who Saved Everybody" which is the story of the movie. It reveals the narrative and theme of the movie that "anyone can be a hero" this message attracts the parents in the target audience who want their children to be inspired by the movie and so would go to watch the movie with them. It reveals the genre of the movie is a superhero movie.
In the credits, The information included is the cast of the movie's actors and crew and production companies as well as age rating, release date and a note about it being 3D in cinemas.
